The Town of Perth has ended the annual distribution of garbage bag tags. Each household may now place up to two bags of garbage every other week on their scheduled collection day without a tag.
Bag tags are still required if you set out more than the two-bag limit. Leftover tags from previous years remain valid, and additional tags can be purchased at Town Hall. The current price is $3.30 per tag, with a planned reduction to $2.00 once the Town’s Fees & Charges By-law is updated.

On Sunday, October 26 at 2 p.m., the community is invited to gather at Darou Farm for a heartfelt vigil in honour of Reese Stanzel, a 15-year-old Perth youth whose life was tragically taken in October 2024. Hosted by Perth & District Community Partners, this commemorative event offers space for reflection, healing, and solidarity.
The Town of Perth is excited to announce the official opening of the Perth Dog Park, located at Darou Farm (2845 Rideau Ferry Road). The community is invited to join the celebration on Saturday, October 4, from 2–4 p.m.
The Council of the Town of Perth and Perth Fire Services invite the community to honour the life and service of Firefighter Brad Fielding on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
The Town of Perth will end the requirement to place bag tags on regular garbage bags and introduce a simpler bag-limit program. Tags will remain available for any additional bags beyond the bi-weekly allotment.
The Town of Perth has issued a conditional building permit for 79 Wilson Street West. This permit applies only to site preparation and excavation work and does not authorize any footing, foundation, site servicing, or above-ground construction at this time.

The Town of Perth and the Climate Change Advisory Panel invite members of the community to roll up their sleeves for The Great Perth Pick-Up, a town-wide clean-up event taking place on Earth Day – Tuesday, April 22, 2025 – from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Crystal Palace (31 Basin Lane).

World Autism Day is recognized on April 2, 2025, in Canada. Autism Ontario is one of the largest collective voices representing the autism community, and the work we do helps all autistic individuals and families in their communities have access to meaningful support, information, and connections — not only on April 2 but every day throughout the year.
The Town of Perth has completed repairs on the watermain break on Wilson St. E. between Halton St. and Robinson St. Backfilling is currently underway, and the road closure will be lifted this evening.
