Town of Perth to Host Open House on Environmental Services Shop Reconstruction Project
The Town of Perth is inviting residents to attend an upcoming Open House to learn more about the proposed Environmental Services Shop Reconstruction Project.
The Environmental Services Shop plays a key role in supporting essential municipal services, including roads, water and sewer infrastructure, winter maintenance, traffic control, event support, and more. The Town’s existing Environmental Services Garage was built in the 1960s. In 2022, the second-storey mezzanine was deemed unsafe for occupancy due to non-compliance with the Ontario Building Code, and staff were required to vacate the space. To maintain day-to-day operations, the Town implemented a temporary solution by renting a trailer.
The proposed project aims to replace the existing facility with a modern, safe, and code-compliant building that can support current and future operational needs. An Open House will take place on Tuesday, May 19 from 4–6 p.m. in the POA Courtroom at Town Hall (80 Gore Street East).
The session will provide an opportunity for residents to:
- Learn about the background and need for the project
- Review draft design drawings and site plans
- Speak directly with Town staff and ask questions
The project has progressed through feasibility, needs assessment, and design development, and is currently in the final stages of design.
Residents who are unable to attend the Open House are encouraged to visit the project page on Engage Perth to review materials and learn more: Engage.Perth.ca/ESShopProject.
