Ready for a party that will spill the tea?

Gather your crew, turn off Netflix, and get ready for an afternoon that will transport you back in time - where you're not just watching history, you're living it.

We’re throwing an 1840s housewarming party, inspired by a real chapter from the Matheson family history. Annabella Russell, Roderick Matheson's second wife, will be your host, welcoming you into their actual house for a one-of-a-kind experience.

Wondering what a housewarming in 1840 looked like?

Think Bridgerton game night vibes, minus the scandal.

Kick things off by meeting the house staff, who'll show you the behind-the-scenes prep for this grand event - and spill the juiciest about how Annabella and Roderick came to be.

Next, you'll step into character. Head upstairs, where a selection of 1840s attire awaits. Pick your look and get ready for your close-up in front of the original Drawing Room fireplace, with period music setting the perfect scene.

Sip on a custom old-fashioned mocktail and play a period party game that's sure to have you in stitches.

And then, it's tea time! Gather around the dining room table in your period-perfect outfits, just like Annabella's guests would have done. As you enjoy your tea, you'll get a glimpse into Mrs. Matheson's life - past and present.

The year is 1873. Senator Roderick Matheson has passed away, and the grand home on Gore Street is shrouded in mourning. But something is amiss—his will has vanished. As grieving family members and loyal staff gather to prepare for the funeral, questions swirl. What did the Senator leave behind? And who stands to gain—or lose?

Join us for a hands-on experience inside the Matheson House, where you’ll become part of the story. Dressed in period costume, guests will take on the roles of Victorian mourners and take part in authentic 19th-century rituals. Bake traditional funeral biscuits. Create beeswax candles. Learn the customs of mourning attire and spiritual photography. Along the way, you’ll uncover clues hidden in the household that may just lead to the missing will.

Is it grief—or greed—hanging heavy in the air?

A Death in the Family is an unforgettable afternoon of mystery, history, and heritage. Suitable for guests aged 19 and up. Group sizes are limited for an intimate and immersive experience.
