Town of Perth Provides Update on Environmental Services Garage Project
Following the Environmental Services Shop Open House held on May 19, 2026, Perth Town Council would like to thank residents who attended, asked questions, and provided feedback regarding the proposed project.
Council recognizes the importance of this project to the long-term delivery of municipal services, while also acknowledging the concerns and perspectives shared by residents during the public engagement process.
As part of Council’s commitment to transparency and ongoing review, the next steps for this project include:
• Detailed review of the costs, opportunities, and limitations associated with alternate locations;
• Examination of potential properties that may be available for purchase; • Analysis of the Town’s Asset Management Plan and anticipated future infrastructure needs and fiscal commitments;
• Review of project financing considerations, including borrowing impacts and potential implications on property taxes, and provincially limited borrowing limits; and
• Additional site review and information gathering by members of Council.
Town staff are currently compiling feedback received through the Open House process and will prepare the above information for Council’s consideration.
As the project is now at a critical point, a Special Council Meeting will be scheduled in the coming weeks to review the collected information, discuss the project in greater detail, and determine next steps moving forward.
Mayor Judy Brown emphasized the importance of community input throughout the process.
“We appreciate the residents who took the time to attend the Open House and share their perspectives,” said Mayor Judy Brown. “Council is listening carefully to the feedback received and is committed to ensuring we make informed decisions that balance operational needs, financial responsibility, and community concerns.”
The Environmental Services Shop project is intended to address operational and safety challenges associated with the Town’s existing facility and support the long-term delivery of
essential municipal services.
Further updates, including details regarding the Special Council Meeting, will be shared publicly as information becomes available. Interested residents are encouraged to visit and subscribe to updates at engage.perth.ca/esshopproject.
