Town of Perth Launches Seniors Neighbourhood Social Planning Team

The Town of Perth is inviting local seniors who are passionate about community connection to help shape a new series of neighbourhood-based social gatherings designed especially for older adults.

These upcoming Seniors Neighbourhood Social Gatherings will bring neighbours together to build friendships, share resources, and provide valuable input on the needs and interests of seniors in our community. To support the initiative, the Town is forming a Seniors Neighbourhood Social Planning Team to help guide and support the program.

“Strong communities are built on connection, and seniors play a vital role in shaping the heart of Perth,” says Mayor Judy Brown. “These neighbourhood gatherings help reduce isolation, strengthen social bonds, and ensure seniors’ voices continue to guide the future of our community.”

Volunteers will have the opportunity to share ideas for fun and engaging activities, help organize events and spread the word, provide insight on what seniors in the community need most, and offer input on accessible and welcoming event locations. By joining the planning team, volunteers will play a key role in creating memorable, meaningful, and community-driven experiences for seniors throughout Perth.

“This initiative is about listening directly to seniors and creating welcoming spaces where relationships and support can grow. The Town is excited to work alongside seniors who want to help shape meaningful, inclusive, and accessible social opportunities across Perth,” says Cathy McNally.
