New Community Safety Zone Established Near Perth Schools
A new Community Safety Zone is being established around The Queen Elizabeth School and St. John Catholic Elementary School to help improve safety for students, families, and others travelling through the area.
Community Safety Zones are designated areas where public safety is of particular concern. Town Council approved the new zone on August 20, 2026. It will officially come into effect once new signage has been installed, which is expected by the end of October.
The Community Safety Zone includes portions of Arthur Street, Wilson Street East, Craig Street, Grant Street, Halton Street, and Robinson Street. The speed limit within the designated area will be 40 km/h.
Traffic enforcement within the Community Safety Zone will be carried out by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Residents with concerns related to traffic enforcement can contact the OPP through its non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122. Concerns regarding parking can be sent to the Town’s By-Law Enforcement at 613-267-3311 ext. 2245 or bylaw@perth.ca.

Drivers travelling through the area should also be aware of several related traffic changes:
- A new four-way stop has been established at the intersection of Wilson Street East and Halton Street.
- On-street parking locations have been adjusted on Grant Street, Halton Street, and Wilson Street East. Drivers should pay close attention to posted signage when parking in the area, as new no parking zones have been introduced.
Drivers are reminded to watch their speed, follow all posted traffic signs and use extra caution, particularly during school arrival and dismissal times.
The Town appreciates the cooperation of drivers as these changes are introduced and encourages everyone travelling through the area to slow down, stay alert, and watch for students and other pedestrians.
