Five kittens in the grassIn the interest of safety, public nuisance and humaneness to animals, the Council of the Town of Perth passed the Animal Control By-law, which applies within the Town boundaries and affects:

  • Dogs
  • Cats
  • Kennels
  • Public nuisance issues including noise, bio-waste, and unleashed animals
  • Animals in vehicles
  • Exotic or wild animals

Please contact our Animal Control/By-Law Enforcement Officer, Anita Stuart, at (613) 259-9998 or by pager at (613) 267-9337:

  • If you require animal care and control services.
  • For inquiries relating to animals that have been picked up in town or animals that are lost/missing.

Animal Licences
  • Dog tags are valid for the length of one year; March 31st of the current year to March 31st of the following year unless otherwise suspended or revoked. (By-law 3557, section 2.1.6)
  • Dogs are required to be licenced annually, whereas cats only require one licence for their lifetime.

Tags are sold at a reduced rate at the beginning of the year and at regular price for the balance of the year.  The breakdown is as follows:

  • $15.00 from January 01 through March 31, and
  • $30.00 from April 01 to the end of the calendar year (December 31).

Animal licences are available at the front counter at Town Hall (80 Gore Street East).

Please be a responsible pet owner - have your pet spayed or neutered!

Please use this form to report a dead animal.
Wildlife and Pest Control
The Town of Perth does not have a pest control department. Residents and businesses must contact a private wildlife or pest control service.

For your convenience, the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is promoting a number of Low-Cost Rabies Clinics across the Tri-County.
