Doug has delighted, intrigued and thrilled many generations of kids with his fantastical song-stories of impossible things wrapped in various musical styles. His cheesie-eating dinosaurs, walking rabbits and hopping bears are all make believe characters so real, pre-schoolers can ‘see them‘ in their minds!

Meet The Keepers!March 16th, 2023 (11:00am-12:00pm)
The Keepers Wildlife Rescue centre was founded by Kyle Lawrie and Janie Cyr in October 2016 to fulfill their dream of rescuing wildlife and educating the public across Canada. They will be visiting the library and they will be bringing a variety of small and medium animals such as chinchilla, tarantula, parrot, rabbit, 4ft snake, fox, and tortoise.

Ukrainian Easter Egg WorkshopMarch 18th, 2023 (10:00am-12:00pm)
Learn how to make beautiful pysanky: Easter eggs in the traditional Ukrainian style. Participants will learn the symbols, cultural context, and lore behind this ancient craft, while also gaining the practical skills. Saturday, March 18 from 10:00-12:00. The fee for the workshop is $15; cash will be accepted on the day of the workshop. Beginner level, family-friendly. Ages 8+ (children to be accompanied by an adult). Registration is limited to 25 participants.

Michael Dupuis on the Winnipeg General StrikeMarch 18th, 2023 (2:00-3:30pm)
Join strike historian and author Michael Dupuis as he takes you through the six week conflict via images of key figures and events, including the violent climax of Bloody Saturday. The presentation is based on his books Reports FromThe Front Lines and Ordinary Men And Women Under Extraordinary Circumstances.

DescriptionLeave the 21st century behind as you enter the world of the 1840s at the elegant Matheson House, home of the award-winning Perth Museum. This popular tourist attraction, located downtown at 11 Gore Street East, is a National Historic Site. The stone dwelling was built in 1840 for the Honourable Roderick Matheson, wealthy merchant, and a senator in Canada's first parliament after Confederation. The four period rooms - parlour, dining room, drawing room and a warm and welcoming kitchen - have been carefully restored and furnished to reflect the lifestyle of the Matheson family who owned the house for 90 years.
To note, tours at this time are self-guided, but the museum interpreters are happy to answer any questions you may have.
The Museum offers drop-in child-friendly activities and has an accessible washroom with a change table. Strollers welcome.
