The Commissioners for taking Affidavits Act allows Municipal Clerks and other Officials to take various types of declarations and to administer oaths.
At Town Hall, the Clerk or the Deputy Clerk is available to commission documents that require a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits (also known as a Commissioner of Oaths) by appointment only. Same day service cannot be accommodated.
The Commissioner of Oaths will witness the signature(s) of person(s) who are affirming/declaring the contents of a document to be true. The person must sign the document in the presence of the Commissioner of Oaths.

I.D. Requirements |
The request for Commissioner of Oaths service must be made by the same individual taking the oath and signing the document. You must provide one original piece of government issued identification (no photocopies permitted) that includes your photo and signature (i.e.: valid driver's licence, passport, etc.). The Commissioner of Oaths is not authorized to sign documents without acceptable identification. |
