The Town of Perth is working towards creating an off-leash dog park, following a desire expressed by residents over the past few years.
On Tuesday, June 20, Town Council passed a motion approving Darou Farm as the selected site for a future dog park. Staff will now work to develop proposed design concepts, budget, and other relevant items. Updates will be shared as the project continues to progress.

- August 15, 2023 - Proposed layout for the off-leash dog park on the Darou Farm property and proposed annual operational costs of $9000 approved by Council. Motion passed stating that the plans for completing the off-leash dog park to begin once the community has raised 50% of the estimated capital costs.
- June 20, 2023 - Motion passed by Council designating Darou Farm as the location for an off-leash dog park.
- May 11, 2023 - An Open House was held in Town Hall from 4-6pm.
- May 3-17, 2023 - A survey was conducted to collect public input.
- April 2023 - A motion was passed by Town Council to solicit input from residents regarding the various options presented by staff.
- December 2022 - Council deferred a decision regarding reconsidering an off-leash dog park staff can bring forward a report regarding a recommended location and a detailed cost analysis.
- October 2022 - Council passed a motion directing Town Staff to prepare a report regarding the development of an off-leash dog park.
- September 2021 - Council passed a motion to accept the final recommended plan for the future of Last Duel Park from the Last Duel Park Advisory Panel. This plan included the an off-leash dog park as one potential use in the South Small area of the park.
- 2014 - Motion passed by Council which stated that a dog park was approved in principle, but that the community would be required to raise 100% of the funding first, and then the Town would provide a location.
- 2009 - A motion to have staff further investigate a dog park was defeated.
