  • Gigabit Fibre Connectivity

Lady with headset typing at computerPerth is one of only seven communities in Canada and one of under 40 communities in all of North America-to offer Gigabit Fibre technology.

  • Traditional phone and cable-based internet speeds are generally around 16.6 megabits per second. Gigabit Fibre of close to 1,000 megabits per second is more than 50 times faster than current technology.
  • The increase in broadband capacity allows users to download or interact online at incredibly fast speeds and opens the door for heavy internet business users, including large industry, technology-based ventures or companies reliant on video conferencing or webinars to consider Perth as a viable community in which to locate.
  • There are many other applications for this type of high-speed connectivity including in the medical community where transferring data quickly could literally mean the difference between life and death.
  • Perth is one of three "fully fibred" communities in Eastern Ontario and has been giving its residents access to speeds of up to 100 megabits per second.
