Perth Heritage Day will transport visitors back in time to commemorate the remarkable 200th anniversary of Inge-Va and the 190th anniversary of the Last Fatal Duel in Upper Canada. The event will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the historic Inge-Va property, located at 66 Craig St.
"We invite residents and visitors from Perth and beyond to join us in commemorating the anniversaries of Inge-Va and the Last Fatal Duel in Upper Canada," says Mayor Judy Brown. "Perth Heritage Day promises to be a memorable celebration.”
Immerse yourself in a day filled with activities for all ages, including a heritage marketplace and demonstrations, engaging re-enactments of the Last Fatal Duel, a performance from Perth Citizens’ Band, and tours of the historic gardens. Artist Linda Henderson-Myers has generously donated a gorgeous painting of Inge-Va which will be available through a silent auction benefitting Perth Museum.
Indulge in fascinating discussions on heritage masonry and carpentry with Vanessa DiNardo and Shawn Thompson. Enjoy a rare opportunity to see inside the house through guided tours led by the esteemed Ontario Heritage Trust (OHT) and see the archeological display featuring finds from the property.
Enjoy spending time on the picturesque property by ordering take-out from a local restaurant and packing a picnic blanket, and by playing lawn games such as ring toss, ladder golf, and cornhole. The Heritage Demonstrations and Marketplace area will feature informative booths and exhibitions from authors, artists, and organizations such as Lanark County Genealogical Society, Archives Lanark, Algonquin College, Ron Shaw, Lynda Haddon, and more.
Perth Heritage Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 .pm., culminating with the closing of the silent auction at 3:45 p.m. Admission is free.
